The Harrachov ski resort sits on the north face of Čertova hora (1,020 m) in the western Krkonoše Mountains – and Hotel Šedý Vlk stands directly on its slope. Here is what you want to know before a ski holiday: runs, lifts, ski school, rental, night skiing and the famous ski jumping hills.

Runs and lifts
A chairlift takes you from town up Čertova hora, with drag lifts on the lower slopes. The runs range from a nursery area for beginners and children, through easy and intermediate pistes, to the longer run from the summit, where races are held. The north-facing slopes keep the snow a long time – often into April. Harrachov is a family and leisure resort, not a piste-mileage giant; in return, distances are short and the lifts rarely crowded.
Ski school, rental, ski pass
Ski schools for children and adults and rental points are in the resort and in town – all within walking distance of the hotel. You buy the ski pass at the ticket offices in the resort; current prices, opening hours and night-skiing dates are available at our reception.

A hotel right on the slope: how ski-in/ski-out works
Hotel Šedý Vlk stands at the edge of the piste. After breakfast you walk out of the building with your skis and are on the hill in a few steps. You pop back to warm up at midday and carry on in the afternoon – no ski bus, no parking, no transfer. For families with children that is the decisive advantage: the little ones are in ski school on the nursery slope, you are on the run from the summit, and the meeting point is the hotel.
Ski jumping hills and the ski flying hill
In the skiing world Harrachov is known above all for its jumping hills – including one of the few ski flying hills in the world. The complex is on Čertova hora and is worth a visit in summer too. More under ski jumping hills in Harrachov.
Cross-country skiing and other resorts nearby
Cross-country skiers find tracks outside town and the large Polish centre at Jakuszyce a few kilometres across the border – see cross-country skiing in Harrachov and Jakuszyce. If you want a larger resort for a day, the slopes at Szklarska Poręba (Poland) are around 20 minutes away and Špindlerův Mlýn about an hour – see Harrachov vs Špindlerův Mlýn.

After the slope: pool, sauna, dinner
The heated pool with a relaxation zone is included in the price, the private Finnish sauna is booked at reception, and dinner is part of the half-board. Everything about winter at the hotel under skiing in Harrachov.
