Harrachov sits in the western Krkonoše (Giant) Mountains, right on the border with Poland – which makes it one of the easiest Czech mountain resorts to reach from Prague, Poland and Germany. Here are the best routes, realistic travel times and everything you should know about the vignette, parking and public transport.

Travel times at a glance
- Prague – approx. 130 km, about 2 hours
- Liberec – approx. 45 km, about 50 minutes
- Jelenia Góra (Poland) – approx. 45 km, under 1 hour
- Wrocław (Poland) – approx. 160 km, about 2.5 hours
- Dresden (Germany) – approx. 150 km, about 3 hours
- Berlin – approx. 330 km, about 4 hours
Times are guide values in normal traffic. During winter school holidays and on holiday weekends allow some extra time.
From Prague and Prague Airport
Take the D10 expressway towards Mladá Boleslav and Turnov. At Turnov continue on road I/10 via Železný Brod and Tanvald through the Jizera valley to Harrachov. In town, enter Harrachov 151 into your sat-nav – it brings you straight to Hotel Šedý Vlk. From Prague Airport (PRG) the drive is about two hours; car rental is available at the airport.
From Poland
From Jelenia Góra and Wrocław drive via Szklarska Poręba to the Jakuszyce border crossing; from the border it is only a few kilometres down to Harrachov. There are no border checks (Schengen), but carry your ID. From Wrocław Airport (WRO) allow around two and a half hours.
From Germany
From Dresden take the A4 to Bautzen, continue to Zittau and cross into the Czech Republic at Hrádek nad Nisou. From Liberec follow road I/10 via Tanvald to Harrachov. From Berlin, use the A13/A15 via Cottbus and Görlitz to Zittau, then as above.

Vignette, border, currency
Czech motorways and expressways require an electronic vignette, bought online before you travel (1-day, 10-day or longer). The D10 from Prague is a toll road; the roads around Harrachov are free. There are no regular border checks, but keep your ID or passport with you. The currency is the Czech koruna; cards are widely accepted and there are cash machines in town.
Parking at the hotel
You park directly at Hotel Šedý Vlk – no searching for a space in town. The ski slope starts at the hotel and the centre is a short walk away, so you will not need to move the car during your stay unless you want to.
By train and bus
Harrachov has a railway station on the Tanvald – Harrachov – Szklarska Poręba line; it lies above the town, with local buses to the centre. From Prague, travel by train or direct bus via Liberec, or by train via Turnov and Tanvald. Send us your travel date and we will help you find the best connection.
Across the border
The Polish side is only a few kilometres away: the cross-country centre at Jakuszyce and the resort of Szklarska Poręba. More under cross-country skiing in Harrachov and Jakuszyce.
